Goodbye Year 6

Goodbye Year 6

After 4 wonderful years at Freegrounds Junior School, it is time for our lovely year 6 children to leave.  Mr Banham would like to wish all the children and parents who have shown their support during this year luck and have a great holiday - we will miss you!

Remember to look after each other, be safe and try not to get under your parent's feet over the holiday!

Best wishes from all the Freegrounds staff and feel free to pop in to let us know how you are getting on.

Little Canada

Little Canada

After a fantastic week at Little Canada, year 6 have finally returned!  We had an excellent time and worked hard as a team.  We also developed in our communication skills; Mr Banham even managed to express his thoughts in alternative ways than shouting so well done to him.

Here are some pictures from the different activities:

Year 6 had an amazing, once in a lifetime, experience and would wish to thank all parents who contributed to this.

A further thank you to all the staff that gave up their weekends to accompany us - we're sorry that we kept you awake on the Friday...

On a separate note, this week year 6 have also been preparing for their leavers assembly.  In this, we will be revisiting some of our fondest memories whilst attending Freegrounds - we hope you can come and watch and show your support!

Check back with us on Tuesday 22nd - our last day at Freegrounds - for fond farewells.

This Week 04/07/14

This Week

This week has been really busy for year 6 for two main reasons: transition days to secondary school and... LITTLE CANADA! (hence why the blog is a day early).

Transition days can be a little scary at first; moving to a new school - regardless of having over 4 times the amount of pupils - is a big deal.  However, 6MB had a great time at Wildern and are now looking forward to going.  Have a look at Wildern's website through the following link:

Mr Banham will be very sad to his lovely class go - he finds it difficult when his little "chicks" fly the "nest".

On Friday, year 6 will be going to PGL's Little Canada - something that they (and the teachers) have been looking forward to for a long time.  Have a look at some of the things Little Canada offers:

This year, we will be doing the following activities:
  • Archery
  • Dragon Boats
  • Canoeing
  • Giant Swing
  • Quad Biking
  • Trapeze
  • Jacob's Ladder
Year 6 can't wait to go and be sure to check in next week to see how it went.

This Week 27/06/14

Production is Over!

After weeks of preparing (and a fair amount of panicking) for our school's production of "My Son Pinoccio," we can announce that it was a huge success! All of the cast, crew, choir and backstage helpers did an excellent job and we are extremely proud of them.  There was quite literally: blood, sweat and tears but we pulled through.

All the staff involved would like to thank everyonefor their hard work, commitment and dedication to making it a great show - especially considering that we only had 7 weeks to prepare for it!

6MB would like to mention a special thank you to Miss Burnet.  Despite the stress, pressure and sheer amount of work that producing a show invariably entails, she did a wonderful job!

Well done and thanks to everyone involved and anyone who came to watch.

This Week 13/06/14

This Week:

This week, 6MB have been extremely busy.  Rehearsals for our school production "Pinocchio," are in full affect and as such, we have had to balance this and normal lessons.

Literacy:
In literacy, we are continuing with our Quest Stories.  This is following on from the quest we went on with Mr Banham when we had to find the missing "Soul Stone".

PSHE:
Furthermore, we have also been looking at what makes a perfect school in PSHE.  First, we looked at a nightmare school; a school where bullying, exclusion and feeling trapped was common.  Then, we created our own perfect school.  Where children play together, include & look after one another.
